Description
The Hydroelectric Project El Edén (hereafter, the project activity or project) is implemented by Central Hidroeléctrica El Edén S.A.S E.S.P (hereafter, the project proponent). The project activity is a hydroelectric power plant that utilizes water from the Río La Miel (“La Miel river”), located in the river basin “La Miel” in the east of the Department of Caldas, Colombia (hereafter, the Host Country), about 125 kilometres from the City of Cali close to the municipalities of Pensilvania, Marquetalia and Manzanares. The electricity generated by the project is expected to be around 111 GWh per year, which will be delivered to the National Interconnected System (SIN ). It will help to reduce thermal power generation in the SIN by providing renewable energy to the grid. Thus, it will contribute to sustainability by increasing the share of renewable energy and reducing GHG emissions.
